General Requirements
Required Documents:
- General Secondary School Certificate/ Transcript or its equivalent approved by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
- Copy of a valid Emirati ID and/ or a passport for both the applicant and the guardian.
- A copy of a valid Resident Identity Card for non-local applicants.
- Family book for the local applicant and birth certificate for non-local applicant.
- Four Passport-size photographs.
- National Service Certificate for the local male applicates (exemption or postponement).
- Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Certificate of proficiency in English (IELTS Academic or TOEFL or EmSAT).
- Payment receipt for the non-refundable admission fees.

Fees
Sharjah Maritime Academy 2024 – 2025 Fees
The tuition fees for each of the three programs offered by the Academy are as follows:
Additional Fee Information:
- Admission fees: 660 AED; non-refundable vat included. (Applicable for New Students only).
- Advance Payment: 5000 AED; to be deducted later from the fees after registration. (Applicable for New Students only).
- Security deposit: 1,500 AED; on registration only one time & refundable (Applicable for New Students only)
- Credit hour: 1,350 AED; doesn’t include any service such as accommodation, meals, uniform, books. training courses.
- Uniform for MT & MET program: 5,000 AED + 5% Vat (total of 5,250 AED) on two installments (First & Second Semester Only).
- Accommodation & Meals are Mandatory for MET and MT for the first year only as follows:
- Accommodation: 3,500 AED – Vat exempted for regular semester
- 1750 AED for Summer Semester
- Meals: 4,500 AED + 5% Vat (total of 4,725 AED) for regular semester
- 2250 AED + 5% Vat (total of 2,363 AED) for Summer Semester
- Accommodation: 3,500 AED – Vat exempted for regular semester
- Our payment plan is: 60% -20%-20%
- Mandatory Training Courses for MT & MET: 1,200 AED per course.
- Graduation fees: 1,000 AED (to be paid in last year)
- Extra services (attestations & seals): 200 AED
Information for International Students
i. estimated living costs
Accommodation & Meals per semester:
- Accommodation: 3,500 AED – Vat exempted for regular semester
- 1750 AED for Summer Semester

- 2250 AED + 5% Vat (total of 2,363 AED) for Summer Semester
ii. visa requirements
The required documents to obtain student visa and residence permit for study in the Academy are as follows:
- Passport
- A statement from the Academy's Admissions and Registration Department
- Personal photo
- Administrative approval
- the student pear the service cost (around 1500 AED) including Issuing a visa, medical examination, issuing a residence permit, Issuing an EID
iii. eligibility for health services
SMA does not provide health insurance, it provides primary health services. The cost of the health insurance must be borne by the student.
On campus clinic operates with a selection of doctors and nurses and provides emergency service, in exceptional critical situations, a student is transported to the nearest hospital.
iv. accident and travel insurance.
SMA does not provide accident and travel insurance.
Refund regulations
Refund Policy:
1- Students shall be eligible for Refund in the following cases:
- A Refund can be requested through Registrar office with a Refund Request Form.
- Refunds shall be processed twice a month (i.e. on 15th and 30th of the month) if the required documents (along with the Form) are submitted 5 days prior to processing date.
- Refunds shall be directly credited to the account holder from whom the initial payment has been received or according to an Approval Form request submitted through the Admission and Registration Department.
- Students need to submit NOL (No-objection letter) from the Sponsor to get the refund amount in case the credit balance is available in the student account from Sponsor support.
- Housing fees will not be refunded after they have been paid, except in special cases approved by the Chancellor.
- Students may add/drop courses without financial penalty during the first two weeks of the semester (Fall/Spring) or the first three days (in the summer semester).
