Dr. Tarek Ali Abouelela is an Assistant Professor at the Maritime Transport Department of the Sharjah Maritime Academy.

His prior experience includes:

  • Practical experience onboard ships for eleven years from 1978 to 1989.
  • Practical experience in the field of military cooperation between Egypt and the United Arab of Emirates concerning sending delegation and training courses, from 1989 -1991.  
  • Practical experience in planning Maritime drills for joint training (Bright star- Cleopatra – Morgan…) with Arab and foreign friend countries from 1991 -2000  
  • Manager of Safaga (V.T.S) station in 2001
  • Manager of Rass Ghareb (V.T.S) station from 2002 – 2004
  • Maritime Licensed pilot in Alexandria harbor from February 2006 till September 2008.
  • Maritime expert in a marine accident at the Alexandra Court of First Instance.
  • Representing the League of Arab States in the meetings of the Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
  • Teaching & managerial Experience:
  • Lecturer in College of Maritime Transport and Technology - Arab academy for science and technology and maritime transport, from July 2005 till 28/3/2023, specialty in Teaching International Maritime Transport Law and Multimodal Transport.
  • Vice Dean of college of Maritime transport & technology - Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport - for students Affairs, from August 2011 till April 2015.
  • Vice Dean of college of Maritime transport & technology - Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport - for Post Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, from April 2015 till 31 July 2019.
  • Experience in supervising several masters' and doctoral dissertations in maritime transport and international agreements.
