About Course:
This course provides training for officers and ratings. It comprises a basic training programme appropriate to their duties, including oil and chemical tanker safety, fire safety measures and systems, pollution prevention, operational practice and obligations under applicable laws and regulations. The course takes full account of Section A-V/1-1 of the STCW Code adopted by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978, as amended, including the Manila amendments 2010.

Course Objectives:
At the end of the course, trainee should be able to:
• Differentiate between oil and chemical tankers with respect to ship development, cargo operations and
various arrangements.
• Demonstrate an understanding of tanker safety, fire safety measures and firefighting and pollution
prevention on board tanker vessels.
Course Information:
• Oil tankers history, terminologies and definition, basic Knowledge of ship arrangements and cargo operations.
• Chemical tankers history, terminologies and definition, basic Knowledge of ship arrangements and cargo operations.
• Physical and chemical properties of oil and chemicals - Emergency Procedures and Pollution prevention.
• Safet culture, safety hazards and safety management of liquid cargo carriers – Fire safety and firefighting operations.
• Fire safety and firefighting operations –assessment.
